Every few weeks I’ll POST a new recipe or restaurant review so check in from time to time. I’d love to get your comments so at the bottom of each post click on “comment” and send one to me. All comments go through my email first so I can make sure they aren’t spam.
Old recipes and reviews are archived but you can retrieve them by clicking on the appropriate side bar link. Under the “categories” side bar you can click on “recipes”. Then all the recipes will appear on the screen and you can scroll down and click on the recipe that interests you. The same thing goes for “restaurant reviews” or “culinary event reviews”. I also have other categories of interesting food information so look around and you’ll find links to wineries, list of area restaurants, other restaurant review blogs, and area U-pick farms or CSAs.
One of the links is to ITHACA MENU. There you can click on most of the Ithaca and Trumansburg restaurants and you’ll get the menu and pricing.
If you’re interested in some food related books or movies I have listings for these as well. And I also try to keep abreast of the new specialty markets and special culinary events as well so check in from time to time to see what is going on.
And I also just posted a funny link called: “What Chefs Do When They’re Bored.” Check it out and you’ll see some amazing creations made from fruits and vegetables.
ABOUT ME: The blogger responsible for this site
I think about food, love to shop for food, read about food, plan restaurant excursions in detail, and cook new dishes for one simple reason. I love to eat. That’s it. Cooking is my relaxation and the only thing that holds my attention without effort. I chose not to go into the food business because I don’t think I would have as much fun if it became an obligation. I do sometimes regret never having gone into food consultation or reviewing and so came the blog idea .
Writing a blog is my chance to dive in and share my passion. I’m curious to see how it resonates out there in the world of wide web.
I’ve decided to focus on the Finger Lakes region of upstate New York, starting with Ithaca which sits at the southern tip of the longest finger lake: Cayuga Lake. The word on the grapevine is that Ithaca has more restaurants (and book stores) per capita then anywhere in the country. The Finger Lakes region does have some extraordinary chefs, wonderful eateries and great food festivals and food events. We have a unique organization called Finger Lakes Culinary Bounty which links together local farmers and food producers with area restaurants. This is the blog that will bring it all together for fellow “Fingerlakians” and friends and visitors who love to grow, eat, and make great food.
OK so what are my credentials? I almost applied to Cornell Hotel School. Instead I learned to cook from my French mother, and native cooks from Korea, Thailand, Japan and China. I’ve been passionate about food since I was around 10 years old and asked my mother why she didn’t have a sauce for the steak (she got her act together shortly thereafter and from then on went on a mission and did prove herself to be a wonderful cook). I subscribe to 7 cooking magazines and actually read them and tear out the recipes that I want to keep. If I find a real winner, I’ll pass on the recipe over the blog. I love to learn and get great ideas for new creations so I’ll be happy to hear from other food enthusiasts.
