Keuka Lake Winery: Harvest Tour of Food and Wine

Lucas Vineyard

September 13 Lucas German Festival 12:30 - 4:30  

 

 

 12th Annual Festival is a kick off to the harvest season and a great way to celebrate their award winning Rieslings and Gewürztraminer. Festivities at the event will include Live Music by The Enzian Bavarian band and dancers, grape stomping, alphorn and polka contests, balloon art, face painting and costumes. Local vendors will be on site selling German food, grape pies, gourmet chocolate, wine ice cream and jewelry. Horse drawn wagon rides through the vineyard will be available for a small fee.  New this year, is a contest for the best German potato salad.  To enter the best German potato salad contest, bring a sample of your homemade salad which will be tasted and judged at 3:30 by Cathy Millspaugh, Executive Director of the Cayuga Wine Trail.

Winemaker’s dinner featuring the flavors of the Finger Lakes Region’s harvest. Prepared by Executive Chef John McNabb and paired with Knapp Winery and Zugibe Vineyards finest wine selections.
 
 
First Course
Acorn and Butternut squash bisque with spiced apples and a maple and nutmeg crème fraiche.
Knapp Pasta White & Zugibe Cayuga White
 
Second Course
Roasted Home-grown beet salad
Roasted beet slices topped with crisp mesculin greens, spiced walnuts, Finger Lakes Farmstead Cheese Co.’s Red Meck cheese shavings and crispy proscuitto. Drizzled with a roasted fennel and balsamic vinaigrette
Knapp Chardonnay & Zugibe Rose
 
Third Course
Poached apple and Brie en croute
Port wine poached crispin apples and aged brie wrapped in puff pastry and baked until golden brown. Served with a black currant preserve, calamyrna figs and artisan crackers.
Knapp Dry Riesling & Zugibe Pinot Gris
 
Fourth Course
Pan seared duck breast with a Cabernet, blueberry and fennel sauce; Grilled pork medallions with a brandied pear and green peppercorn demi glace;
Served with sweet potato and Yukon gold striped duchess potatoes.
Glenora Wine Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon & Zugibe Red to be announced.
 
Fifth Course
Warm apple, pear, and berry crisp served in a pool of port wine crème anglaise and topped with Cayuga Lake Creamery’s White Russian ice cream
